Tamil Nadu higher education minister K P Anbalgan on Friday declared that Anna University does not require Institute of Eminence (IoE) status as it posed a threat to the existing 69% reservation policy of the state. With Anna University vice-chancellor M K Surappa independently approaching the Centre for the IoE status, the issue involving the state’s premiere engineering institution has snowballed into a major controversy.
