
Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who is battling PM Kisan Scheme scam, one of the biggest in terms of the number of ineligible beneficiaries enrolled under any government welfare scheme, sought to put the blame on the Centre by saying that the Central government’s decision to relax the enrolment norms led to about five lakh ineligible people siphoning off ₹110 crore from the exchequer. His government had done everything to expose the scam by ordering a CB-CID inquiry, once the issue came to its knowledge, said Palaniswami.
