Covid positivity rate at Kol private hosps dips

In what could be a possible indication of the pandemic’s slowdown, the positivity rate of samples tested for Covid across Kolkata’s private hospitals has dipped over the last fortnight. Above 40% till July, the rate has slid to around 25%-30% since mid-August. Besides hinting at a decline in the transmission rate, the plunge might also have been prompted by the fact that a large number of mild and asymptomatic patients are opting to skirt a test and going in for a precautionary home quarantine, say experts.
