In a warning against untrammeled urbanisation, a study by a civic body in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region has shown a three-degree rise in land surface temperature (LST) locally. The study, based on satellite data, says the causes include increasing concretization, reduction in waterbodies, and destruction of hills.
